There are two misconceptions that some of my non-techie friends tend to have about scientists and engineers. (1) Science is our religion, i.e., we* hate anything that disturbs the status quo of what we believe to be true. (2) We're out of touch and have no sense of humor. OK, that's three things, but you get the idea.
I love this video, the best parody of the "Gangnam Style" music video that went viral last year (in the sense that the bubonic plague went viral. If you are immune or have been living under a rock, scroll to the end to see the original). Totally fun, totally nerdy, guaranteed (your money back!) to make you smile. It doesn't do anything to dispel the notion that science is a faith like any other (a sacrilege (so to speak) that I will argue against in a later post, using my Dad as a golden but certainly not unique example).
While many of the participants should definitely keep their day jobs, their sense of humor mixed with pride in their work and awe of the universe pervades almost every frame. If you know someone who thinks techies are boring, point them to this video.
