One of the most common questions I get as an entrepreneur coach is, "How can I get a meeting with an investor?"
When competing for the attention of an investor, it's worthwhile to pay attention to the old adage:
"It's not what you know, it's who you know."
In fact, you'd do well to extend that saying to:
"It's what you know AND who you know."
To have a productive meeting with an investor, you need to be prepared to give a great pitch based on a compelling value proposition.
To get the meeting in the first place, your best bet is to have a warm introduction from someone the investor knows and respects. The way to that warm introduction is mostly common sense, but it's amazing how many people miss some fundamental aspects of networking.
